About a year ago we met friends during an aviation event in Caen, France that introduced us to the film „Hungry for Change”. The film literally changed our lives in the way we now think about food, loosing weight, dieting and eating and living healthy. You can watch the first 20 minutes of this movie for free. However, I strongly suggest that you order the DVD or download the movie in MP4 format and watch it on your PC. It is worth the small investment of only 25.00 US$.
The „Hungry for Change” film features several food experts from around the world such as Jon Gabriel, Joe Cross and Jason Vale and several others. A video from Joe Cross called „Fat Sick and Nearly Dead” is also an interesting video to watch. It is not shot as professional as “Hungry for Change”. However, there is a second edition of this video about to be released. The original version can be watched for free online. Joe Cross went on a tour through the US while only drinking vegetable-juice. The video is about this interesting trip, the people he meets and the results of juicing while he travelled across the US.
A third movie worth watching is called Food Inc. This is a documentary about the food industry in the US and an eye-opener about what is happening today in the (US) food industry. I watched it on Netflex, but you can watch it on YouTube as well.
More than 10 years ago my oldest sister introduced us to the works of Michel Montignac. Montignac started to make us think different about our eating habits, introduced us to the glycemic index (GI) and explained why “watching calories” as such is not the solution to being overweight and not feeling healthy. After watching the above movies and reading several books, we had to again rethink the way we thought about food drastically.
“Hungry for Change” motived me to start with juicing using a slow-juicer. The juice comes from raw vegetables and tastes delicious. You just feel the energy flowing into your body drinking this stuff. I remember that we prepared some juice and brought it along to a family diner/party and that everyone there loved it. Jason Vale developed several juicing programs. In this one you follow a program of juicing, eating healthy and walking 2 times a day for 14 days. I lost so far 10 pounds from following this program for the last 2 weeks and feel energized from walking everyday. I have not had a moment that I felt hungry. Tomorrow I will start with a second term of 14 days. I will keep you updated on the progress!
